Day 4: Butterfly Stage

The butterfly stage is the final draft of my piece. Emotion: Happiness Happiness, it really lifts you off your feet It makes you want to come on and groove to the beat There ain’t nothing else like this feeling My soul feels light, like it could hit the ceiling So let’s all jump up super high Real high up in the sky Where nobody and nothing can keep us down There is no trace left of yesterday’s frown You feel that warmth, see that shine? That’s the sun shining over the skyline We’re so high up that you can’t see any clouds Soaring, flying, gliding far above the crowds. Happiness is a truly Golden Experience And it really keeps us from going delirious It’s like a fire, a spark in our soul That keeps us burning towards our goal Happiness gives you power, you know what I’m sayin’? Sometimes it feels like I could go Super Saiyan, that’s how happy I get when I’m out here laughing At my favorite character running and smashing their enemies into dust. Happiness

Seals vs. Humans

In this final unit of our STEAM Population class, we learned more about the relationships between species, as well as new ways to calculate sequences of numbers. We also learned more about specifically how humans and animals affect each other. Most of the time, the humans negatively affect the animals, while the animals don't do much of anything to the humans. It kind of goes to show that we're slowly ruining the Earth as we develop our own society and way of living. For this Action Project, we were tasked with creating our own 1-2 minute video about the relationship between our researched animal and humans. I chose to research Harbor seals. Below is my video that I created for this Action Project. WH,  Population Video , 2018 I also had to do some calculations to find what the human population would have looked like over those ten years. Below are the results of those calculations. Our population has been rising drastically over the last few years. We're eventually

Day 3: Chrysalis

Jayden, my partner for the peer review stage of this project, said that I used really descriptive words and sentences, as well as set the tone really well. He also said that there were no grammatical errors that he could see, and that it was overall a really well-written piece.

Real and Ficitional Heroes

For the third and final unit of my Humanities Stories class, Heroes, we studied the cycle of the hero throughout literature. In specific, Joseph Cambell created a chart of sorts called a "monomyth", which showed each stage of the hero's journey throughout the story. The monomyth can apply to any given story, as long as it has a protagonist in it. For this Action Project, we had to select a fictional hero and a real-life hero of ours, and find parts of the hero's journey in their stories. In my case, I chose Izuku Midoryia, from the show My Hero Academia, and S.H. both are people that I look up to, and admire greatly. Both show several parts of the hero's journey throughout their triumphs and failures. Midoryia is a relatable character in that he's around my age, and a bit nerdy. But he's also a hero both because he is literally training to be a hero in his story, but also because he saves and looks out for others without hesitation. I chose S.H. because

Day 2: Caterpillar Stage

Caterpillar Stage: Add 5 or more lines to your piece. Emotion: Happiness. Happiness, it really lifts you off your feet It makes you want to come on and groove to the beat There ain’t nothing else like this feeling My soul feels light, like it could hit the ceiling So let’s all jump up super high Real high up in the sky Where nobody and nothing can keep us down There is no trace left of yesterday’s frown You feel that warmth, see that shine? Day 1: Egg Stage

For our Writer's Toolbox class, we learned about several different forms of writing and new ways to use grammar correctly. For this Action Project, we were tasked with revising and re-doing an older piece.  WH, Happiness , 2018 I started writing this piece right after watching my favorite show, right after it aired. It made me really happy to see it, as I was extremely excited for a new season of it.  On top of that, the new season has been living up to the hype so far which makes me happy on top of that. As this is a poem, there aren't any real "sentences" here. I definitely used end rhyme a lot here, to varying degrees of success. Some of the lines are better written than others. The main theme of this piece is happiness, obviously. There are also several references to pop culture thrown in there. It describes the feeling mainly through references, some of which not many people will get, some of which many people will get. My intentions for this piece were to

Seal the Deal

For our second unit of our fall STEAM class called Population, we learned about how to group populations and samples of populations of things or animals. For the FE that we went on this unit, we went to the Field Museum, to learn more about organisms and how they've evolved and changed over the millions of years that life has existed here on Earth. For this Action Project, we were tasked with researching an organsim, then changing something about the environment that it lives in and imagining how it might evolve to adapt to those changes. Below is my project, which is on the Harbor Seal. The scientific name for my organsim is Phoca vitulina. It's more commonly known as the Harbor seal. Phoca vitulina are found in coastal waters of the northern Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and the Baltic and North Seas. They usually thrive in colder habitats (such as Alaska), but have been observed to go as far south as Baja California, Mexico. https://www.oceansoffun.org/pinniped_speci

Squirrel and Bear

In this second unit of my Humanities Stories Class, we learned more about fables. Fables are stories with a moral at the end, usually conveyed through anthropomorphised animals or objects. For our FE, we went to the Field Museum to learn more about stories from Naitive American peoples. For this Action Project, we were tasked with writing our very own fable, as well as create a visual to go alongside it. Below is the fable that I wrote. Squirrel was on his way to school one day, carrying an acorn under his arm. It was a sunny day, but Squirrel was a bit gloomy because he had no one to look forward to seeing upon his arrival there. Squirrel thought to himself, pushing his glasses back up onto his nose, “I know I’ve always been the short, geeky type. I know I’m not strong physically, but at least I’m smart. So why won’t anyone want to be friends with me?”  As Squirrel walked through the halls of his large school, lost in thought, he accidentally ran into Bear. He let out a small squ
