For our final Action Project for our STEAM class, Cure, we were tasked with creating a patient profile for a fictional character, using information from our own family trees (and mixing it up so there aren't any real connections to real people). I chose to investigate into Type 2 Diabetes, and below is my patient profile. In conclusion, I thought that this project was difficult because of the time crunch scenario that I had with it, but since that was mostly my own fault, it was alright. I actually found the project to be quite enjoyable once I got into it.

For our only and final Action Project for our Workshop class, Writing, we had to choose a type of essay to do (out of four options), and have it be a big long-term project over the course of the entire workshop. Below is my own essay; a personal narrative. In conclusion, I thought that this project was quite enjoyable to do. I like just being able to talk about myself and the things that I'm really passionate about, like reading.

For our third and final unit for our Humanities class, Drama, we discussed what a matriarch is, and we also talked about blockbusting, and the majority of our class time was spent reading the play A Raisin in the Sun . A matriarch is usually defined as someone who's mentally strong, and the head woman of the household. They're also usually seen as old and wise. For this AP, we were tasked with choosing a part of the play and a character from the play to write a commentary on. Below is the audio recording of my commentary, as well as a text transcript of the recording. In conclusion, I thought that this project was enjoyable, but I struggled a bit with the audio part of it. I'm not super comfortable with voice acting like that, for school projects especially, but I think I did pretty well on it despite that.

In this second unit of our Humanities class, Drama, we read the play A Doll's House, and we also learned more about Victorian times and what it was like to live in them. For our Action project this unit, we had to make our own little play that connected to A Doll's House. Below is the filmed version of the play that we wrote, along with a transcript of the play. In conclusion, I thought that this Action Project was interesting and fun to do with a group, and I also liked how it connected with gender inequality.

For the second unit of our STEAM class, Cure, we learned more about how medicine works, as well as the different types of medicine and what they do, as well as reading more of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks . We also learned about how medicines work in a Lock and Key system. The Lock and Key system talks about how our nerve receptors accept enzymes to send out signals to the rest of the body, specifically the brain. Some medicines, like Advil for example, go into the nerves and stop the receptors from getting that enzyme, causing us to not feel that pain anymore. For our Action Project this unit, we were tasked with finding different treatments for a certain disease or symptom, and make a little box with information about it on it, as well as three treatments for it and how they compare to each other. For our first unit of our STEAM class, Cure, we learned about cells and the human body, as well as quadratic formulas. For our FE for this unit, we went to the IMSS (International Museum of Surgical Science) to learn about early surgeries and how they did things back when they didn't have modern luxuries like anesthesia and painkillers. For this Action Project, we researched a specific surgery, and made a presentation on how it affects the body. Below is the slideshow that I've put together for my presentation on hip replacement surgery. In conclusion, I thought this project was interesting to research, and I also had personal ties to it, given that my grandmother on my mom's side recently went through the process of hip replacement surgery.

For this first unit of our Humanities class, Drama, we learned about plays, and the majority of our class was spent reading a Shakespearean play, specifically The Taming of the Shrew. It had some interesting views on gender roles throughout the play. This is especially true, given the time period it was written in, where women didn't have much power and were supposed to always be subservient to men. Women who defied those expectations were punished, usually until they changed their ways and became subservient. This play is a pretty accurate depiction of life during this time period, and Shakespeare was trying to make a statement that gender roles should be changed, to give the women more power in society.
