Gender Equality

In this unit of our Humanities class we learned more about how the SDGs are problems that don't care about borders, and how we all need to work together to solve them. We also learned about how development and sustainability can be achieved at the same time. I took away from this project that gender equality is very important to several other major SDG goals, and that by solving the problem of gender inequality, it will make solving other SDGs much easier.

What Will London's Weather be Like in 83 Years?

In this unit of our STEAM class, H2O, we learned about the water cycle, carbon cycle, global warming, and several other topics. We talked to a couple of different experts about global warming and how it could affect our planet and its weather. The purpose of this assignment was to make us think more about what the effects of global warming will be like in 83 years from now. I learned from this project that the effects of global warming are going to be pretty drastic if we don't stop it ASAP. I thought that this project wasn't that hard, and I think I really just struggled with finding good sources and doing the math parts of this AP.

Water You Doing?

This past unit was called 4.5 billion, and taught us the importance of water and its chemical properties. We went on a field experience last week to the water purification plant down by Navy Pier. There we learned more about water and how the plant filters it so it's drinkable. Our AP is to make our own homemade water filter. The big question that I came up with was: What can we do to filter water efficiently and cheaply, lowering its pH level? My hypothesis is that the water will run through my filter, and come out cleaner at the other end. The materials I used are; gravel, a plastic Coke bottle, a knife, activated charcoal, coffee filter, a large cup or mug, and a hammer and a nail. Most of these materials I was able to find around the house, but some of them I had to go out and buy, like the activated charcoal and the coffee filters. These are the steps I took to make my filter, and people could also use this to make their own filters out of the materials mentio...
